MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - In their final tune-up before the Sunshine State Conference Championships next week, the Eckerd men's golf team placed 16th at The Battle at the Shores at Normandy Shores Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.
The Tritons opened with a 310 Monday morning followed by a 326 in the afternoon but saved their best round for the finale with a 306 for a three-round total of 937.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tim Scholl (+9) (73-77-72) T 36
- Chipped in two birdies and 12 pars in the opening round
- Opened with two birdies on Tuesday's round while adding 12 pars.
- Led the team with 36 pars over the tournament.
Michael Bechard (+13) (71-80-75) T53
- Carded four birdies and 10 pars in the opening round.
- Played holes 10 through 19 at 2-under for an opening-round even-par 71, sitting tied for ninth after the round.
- Bechard's opening round 71 is one off his career-low.
- Led the team with seven birdies over the tournament.
- Had two birdies and 10 pars in the closing round.
Noah Cone (+31) (84-82-78) T86
- Made five birdies and 21 pars over the three-rounds.
Joe Lagana (+32) (82-82-81) T87
- Made 23 pars over the tournament.
Ryan Hackenson (+46) (88-89-82) 90
- Capped the tournament with a birdie and nine pars in the final round.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- AJ Ewart of Barry claimed low-medalist honors with a 5-under 208.
- Barry won the team title by 14 strokes with an 845.
- Tim Scholl leads the team with a 73.6 stroke average this season.
- Eckerd was only three strokes from moving up the leaderboard.
