ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd sailing team placed third within interconference competition at South Points #6 while coming in sixth in an out-of-conference event at the Hanbury Trophy.
On Saturday, the Tritons placed third with 120 points at South Points #6 in Winter Park, Florida.
Cooper Robinson and
Anna O'Reilly competed for a second-place finish with 50 points in the B Division. The tandem placed within the top-five in six races, highlighted by a third-place finish in race five.
EC placed fifth in the A Division with 70 points as
Cameron Robinson (1-6), and
Lily Schwartz (7-9) skippered the boat with Ben Carrol as crew. Their best finish came in race seven with a runner-up finish.
Jacksonville won the event with 43 points.
The Tritons placed sixth with 294 points at the Hanbury Trophy in Newport News, Virginia.
Eden Nykamp and
Brooks Jordan sailed in the A Division with 118 points. The duo surged up the leaderboard following a string of top-three finishes (third, fourth, second) over races 7-9, followed by a runner-up finish in race 13.
Griffin Richardson skippered the B Division with
Amelia Johnson (1-4) and
Sophia Hacket as crew (5-14). Richardson and Hacket won the 12th race.
The Naval Academy won the event with 165 points.
Eckerd returns to the water next weekend at the St. Francis Intersectional in San Francisco, California.
