MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Eckerd sailing teams produced a terrific weekend on the water with a victory at the SAISA Fall Women's Sprint and a third and ninth-place finish at the Lake Virginia Invitational.
At the SAISA Fall Women's Sprint in Melbourne, Florida, Eckerd finished with 19 points, a three-point cushion to win the event.
Tia Soultanakis and
Anna O'Reilly finished in the top four in all nine races, with victories in races one, two, seven, and nine.
At the Lake Virginia Invitational in Winter Park, Florida, the Tritons raced two boats, placing third and ninth.
In Eckerd's first boat,
Eden Nykamp and
Amelia Johnson comprised the A Division with 40 points and a runner-up placing. The tandem won races two, three, seven, 11, and 12.
Griffin Richardson and
Tess Heilman led the B Division with 49 points, finishing third. The duo won the fourth, seventh, and ninth races.
Eckerd finished with 89 points.
Lily Schwartz and
Tess Levanway competed in the Tritons' second boat in the A Division with 103 points and a seventh-place finish. Their best race came in the ninth race, placing third.
Ronan Sulkin and
Elissa Martinez sailed the B Division with 117 points, finishing 10th.
The Tritons finished with 220 points.
South Florida won the regatta with 78 points.
Eckerd gears up for the SAISA Open and Women's Championships next weekend in Winter Park, Florida.
