ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Following an impressive performance in the B Division by
Sophia Hacket and
Griffin Richardson, the Eckerd sailing team claimed first place at South Points #3 at the Doyle Sailing Center over the weekend.
The tandem of Hacket and Richardson finished within the top four in all five races. They opened the event with a first-place finish before placing second in races two and four. They added a fourth-place finish in race three and a third-place finish in the final race.
Hacket and Richardson won the B Division with 12 points, four points ahead of Rollins.
In the A Division,
Matthew Monts skippered all five races with the crew of Elissa Martinez (1-4) and
Amelia Johnson (5) for a fourth-place finish with 31 points. Monts and Martinez started the day strong with a third-place finish in the opening race, while Monts and Johnson came in second in the finale.
Eckerd won the event with 43 points, a 19 point advantage over Miami.
Eckerd also sailed another team in the regatta, placing 13th.
The Tritons return to the water next weekend at South Points #4 in Winter Park, Florida and at the Danmark Trophy in New London, Connecticut.
