Tim Scholl impressed in his first event of the fall season, firing a career-low 7-under 209 as he tied for fifth place at the Jay Jenison Cup at Slammer and Squires Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
Eckerd opened with its best round, 293, and followed with consistent rounds of 296 and 298 for a three-round total of 887 for a tied for 13th place finish.Â
Scholl sprinted out of the gates with an eagle on his opening hole (No. 11) before adding birdies on his fourth and sixth holes to make the turn at 4-under. He finished the opening round with a 69.Â
He tied his career-low of 68 Monday afternoon, highlighted by four birdies on the front nine. He continued his impressive round with two birdies on the back nine while shooting bogey-free.Â
Scholl followed with a 72 in the final round on Tuesday.Â
Noah Cone was the team's second-lowest finisher. He also started aggressively with a career-low 2-under 70 in the opening round, highlighted by four birdies. He followed with a 73 in the afternoon to sit 23rd heading into Tuesday. Cone followed with a 78 in the final round.Â
Michael Bechard shot consistent rounds of 74 on Monday. He posted three birdies in the morning and four in the afternoon round. He closed with a 77 on Tuesday.Â
Cade Paterson posted rounds of 80-81 on Monday before improving with a 75 on Tuesday.Â
Will Englander improved in each round with scores of 86-81-74.Â
Bryson Boyette of Barton College claimed low-medalist honors with a 201. Â Barry took first place with an 837.Â
Eckerd returns to the course on October 4-5 at the Super Regional Preview in Valdosta, Ga.Â
