DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - After an impressive performance in the B Division at South Points #5, Eckerd sailors
Eden Nykamp and
Anna O'Reilly have been named the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (SAISA) Coed Sailors of the Week for the weekend of October 9-10.
O'Reilly and Nykamp won their division with 16 points, propelling the Tritons to the South Points #5 victory. The duo led wire-to-wire, placing in the top two in seven out of the eight races. Nykamp and O'Reilly claimed victories in races two, three, and six.
Eckerd won the event with 59 points, a four-point advantage over Jacksonville. The victory helped EC seal the SAISA South regular-season division title.
The award is the first of each of their respective careers.
Eckerd returns to the water on October 30-31 at the SAISA Coed and Women's Conference Championships in Wilmington, NC, and hosts the women's 2 vs. 2 Team/Fleet Race at the Doyle Sailing Center.
