ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd sailing team cruised to victory following a strong performance from the B Division at South Points #5 over the weekend. The Tritons also competed at the Coed ACC's in New Haven, Connecticut, placing 17th.
At South Points #5 in Daytona Beach, Florida, Eckerd finished with 59 points, a four-point advantage over Jacksonville.
The Tritons' B Division of
Eden Nykamp and
Anna O'Reilly won the division with 16 points. The pair only placed outside of the top two in one of the eight races with victories in races two, three, and six.
Cameron Robinson and
Elissa Martinez sailed in the A Division with 43 points finishing fourth. The duo had four top-five placings with a victory in race six.
At the Coed ACC's, Eckerd finished with 484 points.
Matthew Monts (1-6, 10-15) and
Griffin Richardson (7-9, 16-17) skippered the boat with
Josh Cole (1-6, 10-12) and
Amelia Johnson (7-9, 13-17) as crew in the A Division. In the B Division,
Sean Tallman and
Sophia Hacket posted three fifth-place finishes in races eight, 16, and 17.
Host Yale won the event with 120 points, a 109 point advantage over George Washington.
Eckerd returns to the water next weekend at Savin Hill in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and the SAISA Match Race Championships in St. Petersburg.
