ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd women's tennis team won its second match in a row after defeating Saint Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.) on Friday afternoon at the Bullard Courts.
Eckerd (4-7) took the doubles point after getting wins at No. 1 from
Taylor Selby and
MaryAnn Aaron, 6-3, and at No. 2 from
Bailey Koronich and
Theo Schultz, 6-4.
Selby and Aaron both won their singles matches, Selby outlasting Katarina Lopez in a second-set tiebreaker and Aaron breezing past Amelie Meyers 6-1, 6-2.
Angelina Kossoff then secured the winning point at No. 6 singles by knocking off Chiara Dittrich 6-1, 6-1. Â
Cassidy Lear secured the Tritons' fifth point in a lengthy match against Maya O'Brien capped by a 10-3 win in the third set.
Eckerd returns to the court on Monday hosting Franklin Pierce (N.H.) University at 10:00 AM.
