TRITONS THIS WEEK: What's Coming On April 9-15

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-  It's a weekend-heavy schedule for Eckerd athletics with four of the five teams competing this week playing over the weekend. Baseball and softball will each host a three-game series over the weekend while sailing and women's golf will be on the road. Both tennis team will compete in their final matches of the season as well on Wednesday.

  • The Tritons return to action this week for their final match of the season as they host Saint Leo on Wednesday. The women are coming off a strong weekend after sweeping Ave Maria last Saturday.

  • Eckerd (18-17, 8-10 SSC) looks to carry the momentum of their third series win in a row as they host Embry-Riddle for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday.
  • Several Tritons have been performing well at the plate lately. Keith Leavitt, Jr. has hit a homerun in three of his last four games. Chase Achuff and Nick Conti each have hitting streaks alive as Achuff's extended to 15 games and Conti's is at eight games. Mitch Calandra had a good weekend against Flagler going 7-for-14 with three runs scored.
  • Over the three-game series with Flagler, the Tritons relief pitching put together three solid performances with just a 2.40 ERA. Jack Iervolino led the bullpen with 3-2/3 scoreless innings and one save.
  • Embry-Riddle (10-22, 1-14 SSC) enters the week on a six-game losing streak and will play Flagler before heading to St. Petersburg. Kyle Marsh leads the team at the plate with 36 RBIs and a .356 batting average while Zach Howard has 14 homeruns. Daniel Agramont leads the team on the mound with a 4.84 ERA and 35 strikeouts.

  • Eckerd (17-21, 8-13 SSC) looks to get back into the win column following a series loss to Lynn as the Tritons host Barry for a three-game SSC series Saturday and Sunday.
  • Nikole Van Gennep led the Tritons at the plate over the weekend with a 6-for-13 performance and three runs scored. Kaleigh Floyd also has a five-game hitting streak.
  • Van Gennep leads Eckerd in the circle with a 2.42 ERA over 144.1 innings with 85 strikeouts. Behind Van Gennep, Ally Costa and Janna Gaburo split time combining for 85.2 innings pitched.
  • Barry (18-24, 3-15 SSC) enters the week off a series loss to Saint Leo and will host Nova Southeastern for a three-game series during the week before traveling to St. Petersburg. Barry is led at the plate by Madison VonHagel with a .327 batting average and 32 RBIs. Geneva Santos and Christine Falcon split time in the circle throwing 127 and 107 innings respectively while Falcon has 55 strikeouts.

  • Eckerd wrapped up its home racing schedule with a second-place finish in the SAISA Coed Championships to earn a spot in nationals in May. The Tritons look to build on the strong performances as the women travel to Boston for the Presidents Trophy and the coed team travels to Annapolis, Maryland. for the Navy Spring Intersectional.
WOMEN'S GOLF
Saturday-Tuesday: Sunshine State Conference Championships | Osprey Point GC | Boca Raton, Fla.
  • Eckerd wraps up its season in Boca Raton at the Sunshine State Conference Championships with competition starting Sunday. Last time out Laila Forstmane led Eckerd with a second place finish at the Centre Invitational.
