TRITONS THIS WEEK: What's Coming On April 23-29

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Triton athletics schedule continues to wind down with just three teams in action this week. Baseball will be at home for mid-week action while they also travel over the weekend. Softball and men's golf conclude their seasons playing on the road.

MEN'S GOLF
Sunday-Tuesday: Sunshine State Conference Championships | Grande Oaks GC | Davie, Fla.
  • Eckerd began competition at the Sunshine State Conference Championships in Davie  yesterday with Nick Mitchell and  Felix Bolivar leading the way for the Tritons. Eckerd will continue competitions Monday and Tuesday to wrap up the season.

  • Eckerd (20-21, 10-14 SSC) looks to get back in the win column following a series loss to Nova Southeastern as they host Webber on Wednesday while traveling to Winter Park on Friday. The Tritons also travel to Saint Leo on Sunday and Monday for a three-game Sunshine State Conference Series.
  • Chase Achuff and Garrett Hiott both kept their hitting streaks alive over the weekend. Hiott extended his to seven games while Achuff's streak is at 21 games. Achuff's hitting streak is the longest in Eckerd history since 2011. He also leads the country in toughest to strikeout with only five strikeouts on the season.
  • Dillon McCollough led the team on the mound over the weekend striking out 10 over 6.1 innings marking the fourth time this season he has recorded double digits in strikeouts. Jack Iervolino, Cam Lanzilli, and Jarid Salisbury led the bullpen over the weekend as the three relievers combined for a 1.93 ERA over the three games.
  • Webber (31-19) enters the week on a series sweep of South Carolina- Beaufort. Chris Medina and Marcus Begg lead the team at the plate hitting .340 and .322 respectively while each has hit eight homeruns. Zak Spivy leads the team on the mound with a 2.45 ERA and 85 strikeouts over 95 innings.
  • Saint Leo (31-9, 14-7 SSC) enters the matchup off a series win over Florida Tech. The Lions are led by Peyton Isaacson both at the plate and on the mound. Isaacson has hit 17 doubles and 11 homeruns while driving in 42 runs. On the mound, he has earned 11 saves.
  • Eckerd and Saint Leo have met twice already this season with Saint Leo winning both 8-5 and 7-4.
SOFTBALL

  • Eckerd (20-24, 11-16 SSC) looks to carry the momentum of a series win over Florida Tech as they conclude the season at Tampa with a three-game SSC series on Friday and Saturday.
  • Nikole Van Gennep led the team at the plate with four hits over the weekend while extending her hitting streak to nine games. Meridith McGinnis and Carrie Shere provided the teams production combining to drive in the teams runs over the three-game series with McGinnis providing a walk-off hit and Shere with a go-ahead homerun.
  • Van Gennep led the team in the circle as well over the series allowing just two runs in two games pitched with a 1.00 ERA over 14 innings while also striking out eight. Grace Willeck also led the team throwing four innings of relief allowing just one hit. This season Willeck has allowed just two earned runs as a reliever.
  • Tampa (25-16, 16-11 SSC) enters the week off two straight series wins over ranked opponents. Three Spartans are hitting over .300 with Bailey Phillips leading the team with 11 doubles while Shelby Press leads the team with 19 RBIs. Makaleigh Dooley leads the conference with 217 strikeouts on the mound.
