TRITONS THIS WEEK: What's Coming On April 16-22

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd athletics schedule begins to slow down as the academic year winds to a close. Softball will conclude its home schedule this weekend as the Tritons host Florida Tech on Friday and Saturday. Both golf teams, baseball, and sailing will all compete on the road this week as well.

WOMEN'S GOLF
Sunday-Tuesday: Sunshine State Conference Championships | Osprey Point GC | Boca Raton, Fla
  • Eckerd began competition at the Sunshine State Conference Championships in Boca Raton yesterday with Maddison Davis and Sarah Greene leading the way for the Tritons. Eckerd will continue competitions Monday and Tuesday to wrap up the season.

  • Eckerd (18-23, 9-15 SSC) looks to bounce back from a series loss to Barry as they conclude their home schedule hosting Florida Tech for a three-game series over the weekend. Before the game Saturday, the Tritons will honor its nine seniors: Kaleigh Floyd, Dana Paul, Chelsea Armstrong, Carly Coleman, Janna Gaburo, Carrie Shere, Rachael Luckett, Crystal Garcia, and Grace Willeck.
  • Floyd, Garcia, and Nikole Van Gennep led Eckerd at the plate over the weekend. Floyd and Van Gennep each had four hits apiece in the three-game series with Barry while Floyd extended her hitting streak to eight games while Van Gennep's is at six games. Garcia led the Tritons with five RBIs over the series.
  • Van Gennep and Janna Gaburo paced the team in the circle with each throwing in every game over the weekend. Gaburo factored in all three decisions earning her third win the season with two innings of scoreless work on Saturday. Van Gennep leads the team with a 2.57 ERA and 91 strikeouts this season.
  • Florida Tech (29-18, 13-11 SSC) enters the matchup off a series sweep of Florida Southern. The Panthers are led at the plate by Xiarysse Emmerenciana hitting .336 while Vanessa Rubio has 20 RBIs. The Panthers have a strong pitching staff with a team ERA of 1.63 while Melanie Murphy leads the team with a 0.98 ERA over 164.2 innings.

  • Eckerd (20-18, 10-11 SSC) looks to continue its hot play after winning its fourth series in a row as they travel to Nova Southeastern for a three-game series over the weekend.
  • Chase Achuff, Garrett Hiott, and Mitch Calandra led Eckerd at the plate over the weekend with five hits each. Achuff currently has a 17-game hitting streak and has eight multi-hit games during the streak. Keith Leavitt, Jr provides the teams power as he has hit a homeruns in four of the past seven games.
  • The Triton pitching staff has been strong lately. Starters Dillion McCollough and Nick Alonzo had dominate outings over the weekend with McCollough striking out 13 marking the third time this season he has posted double digits in strikeouts while Alonzo threw seven scoreless innings. Jack Iervolino lead the team in relief earning his third save of the season on Friday and hasn't allowed a run in his last seven outings.
  • Nova Southeastern (26-9, 18-3 SSC) enters the series on a 12-game win streak. The Sharks have seven players hitting over .300 as Andrew Liberty tops the team hitting .434 while Jake Anchia leads the team's productions with 10 doubles, 15 homeruns, and 46 RBIs. Devin Conn leads the Sharks on the mound with a 4.15 ERA over 60.2 innings while striking out 88.

  • After competing in the Navy Spring Intersectional and President's Trophy Eckerd travels again this weekend as the co-ed team heads to Boston for the Dinghy Cup while the women look to qualify for a spot at Nationals as they head to the SAISA Women's Championships.

  • Eckerd wraps up its season in Davie at the Sunshine State Conference Championships with competition starting on Sunday and lasting into next week.
