ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Eckerd athletics continues its busy spring schedules this week with eight teams competing. Tennis and baseball will be home during the week while men and women's golf, sailing, beach volleyball, and softball will all be in action on the road.

  • The Tritons have another busy week of action with two home matches. Both the men and women will host Franklin Peirce on Monday and travel to Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday while the men also host another conference match on Sunday against Barry. Both the men and women are coming off losses in close contests with St. Thomas Aquinas while the men took a narrow win over Daemen (N.Y.) last week.

  • Eckerd (10-13, 3-9 SSC) looks to snap its three-game skid playing in five games this week. The Tritons travel to Kissimmee on Monday for a game with Northwood (Mich.) and travel to Saint Leo Tuesday for a non-conference game while they host Rollins for a three-game SSC series.
  • Chase Achuff led Eckerd last week with a 7-for-13 and three-RBI performance in the series at Florida Southern including his first career homerun. Mitch Calandra had two multi-hit games during the week and has now seven multi-hit games in the last 11 contests. Keith Leavitt, Jr swiped his 13th stolen base of the season, ranking second in the conference.
  • Dillon McCollough leads the team on the mound with 45 strikeouts while Joey Favetta and Nick Alonzo limit opposing batters to .189 and .202 batting averages respectively.  
  • Northwood (12-6) enters the contest on a six-game win streak including an upset win over No. 6 West Chester. Five Timberwolves are hitting over .300 with Davis Vinsky leading the way with a .507 average and 10 doubles. Tyler Jandron leads the team on the mound with a 0.65 ERA over 27 innings with 37 strikeouts.
  • No. 10 Saint Leo (19-5) enters the game after three losses to Tampa. The Lions have five players hitting over .300 with Peyton Isaacson leading the way with a .374 average with nine homeruns and 31 RBIs. Isaacson also leads the team on the mound with eight saves in eight appearances without giving up a run.
  • Rollins (16-8, 4-2 SSC) enters the week with a series win over Palm Beach Atlantic. Five Tars are hitting over .300 with Bryce Peterson and Brian Brooker leading the team with seven homeruns each while Brooker has 35 RBIs. Brad Case and Cameron Enck lead the team on the hill with 2.06 and 2.90 ERAs while Enck has 56 strikeouts.
  • Eckerd and Saint Leo played one month ago at the Turley Athletic Complex with Saint Leo winning 8-5. The Tritons had a 5-3 lead through seven innings but the Lions used a five-run eighth inning for the win.  
MEN'S GOLF
Monday/Tuesday: NGU Invitational | Columbia Country Club | Blytheville, S.C.
  • Eckerd returns to action after three weeks off from play. The Tritons head to Blytheville, South Carolina, on Monday and Tuesday for the NGU Invitational. Justin Ayanian posted the best 18-hole round in Triton history last time out at the Saint Leo Invitational setting a new school record of 8-under 64 in the opening round.

  • Eckerd (8-4) will travel to the Saint Leo Invitational on a four-match win streak after three wins last week. The Tritons will play four matches at the Invitational facing Saint Leo and Jacksonville on Friday and Florida International and Florida Southern on Saturday. Eckerd looks to the duo of Paula Hoffmann and Kaitlyn Sibson in the No. 1 draw who have compiled an 11-match win streak while only dropping three sets during the streak.

  • Eckerd (12-7, 3-9 SSC) got back into the win column last week in a big way taking the SSC series over No. 9 Saint Leo. Eckerd will continue SSC action traveling to Rollins on Friday and Saturday for a three-game series.
  • The Tritons have three players hitting over .300: Crystal Garcia (.370), Kaleigh Floyd (.354), and Nikole Van Gennep (.341). Garcia led the team last week going 7-for-16. She has also recorded a hit in 17 of the last 20 games.
  • Van Gennep leads the team in the circle with a 2.07 ERA over 101.1 innings while striking out 60. Van Gennep earned both upset wins over No. 9 Saint Leo over the weekend. Ally Costa has produced three consecutive quality outings where she kept opposing hitters bats quiet, carrying a no-hitter through six innings on Wednesday and allowing just three hits against Saint Leo.
  • Rollins (20-13, 6-6 SSC) enters off a 3-1 week with two wins over Southern Connecticut State. The Tars have three players hitting over .300 with Chandler Middlebrook hitting .356 with 13 doubles and 31 RBIs. Abby Summers and Grace Street split time in the circle while Street leads with a 1.88 ERA.
WOMEN'S GOLF
Saturday/Sunday: Centre Invitational | Saddlebrook Resort | Tampa, Fla.
  • The Tritons will play for the third week in a row competing in the Centre Invitational at the Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa on Saturday and Sunday. Last week, Sarah Greene put together a strong outing finishing seventh in the Eagle Invitational.

  • Eckerd boasted another strong performance placing third at the South Points #4 Regatta. The Tritons look for another top finish as they compete in two Regattas over the weekend at the South Points #5 in Tampa while the No. 17 Team race Tritons will compete in the Friis Team Race in Rhode Island.
