ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd sailing team had another busy weekend competing in three regattas, including two team racing events, as the spring season gets into full swing.
Making the long trip to California, the Tritons took third place in the Jeremy McIntyre Team Race. Eckerd went 7-2 in round one before going 3-2 in the Top 6 round and 2-1 in the Top 4 round. Â EC's boats were skippered by
Geoffrey Nelson,
Andrew Schoene and
Rasmus Sayre while
Ginna Killbourne,
Sabine Zinserling and
Delphine Carroll were crew.
The Tritons also took part in the Mendelblatt Team Race hosting by South Florida, finishing in seventh place. Â The Tritons went 3-5 in round one but slipped in round two with a 1-7 mark.
The women's team competed against a very strong field at the Phebe Corckran Women's Regatta in Charleston, South Carolina, taking eighth place overall. Â
Anna Huebschmann and
Kim Kusminsky got off to a strong start in the A Division with a second-place finish in the first race and also took third place in the fourth race. Â The duo finished the regatta with six top-six finishes in 13 races.
In the B Division, Eckerd's trio of
Sophie Salomon,
Jane Donovan and
Tatiana Chinitz finished seventh overall while recording six top-six race finishes.
