SOFTBALL GAMEDAY: Tritons Travel to Barry for Weekend SSC Series

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team travels to Barry University after five days off to take on the Buccaneers for a three-game conference series this weekend.

GAMES 41-43: Eckerd College (14-26, 3-12 SSC) at Barry University (16-21, 8-10 SSC) | Friday 6:00 PM | Saturday (DH) 12:00 PM | Buccaneer Field
Coverage: Stats | Video

MAKING HISTORY
- Nikole Van Gennep made history for the Tritons last weekend. On Friday night, Van Gennep pitched the first in program history dating back to 2006; complete records before 2006 are unavailable. Not only was Van Gennep's performance impressive, Carrie Shere provided her own heroics. Lynn's Fran Olexa also had a no-hitter alive before Shere smacked a solo shot to left center with two outs in the seventh inning to carry Eckerd in the walk-off win.
- EC dropped both games on Saturday by scores of 4-1 and 7-2. Amber Schaad had two hits in Saturday's opener and drove in the Tritons' lone run. In the finale, Kaylin Kramer drove in Rachael Luckett in the fourth inning for Eckerd's first run before Shere scored off an error in the seventh.

LEADING THE WAY
- Rachael Luckett (.294), Crystal Garcia (.265), and Chelsea Armstrong (.245) lead the team's offense.  Luckett tops the offense smacking eight doubles, one triple, and one home run. Luckett's runs scored (27), doubles (8), at-bats (126), and walks (19) all rank in the top ten in the conference.
- Garcia is second on the team in runs scored with 14 while ripping two doubles and one triple. Garcia has swiped 17 bags ranking fifth in the conference.
- Armstrong has driven in a team-high 19 runs while her strikeouts (5) are tied for fourth-fewest in the conference.

IN THE CIRCLE
- Van Gennep (9-15) paves the way for the Tritons on the mound maintaining a 2.22 ERA over 158 innings of work. Van Gennep's 73 punch-outs are sixth in the conference.
- Grace Willeck (2-6) and Janna Gaburo (3-4) work behind Van Gennep in the circle. Willeck carries a 4.44 ERA over 63 innings while fanning 49. Gaburo holds a 4.36 ERA while striking out 11.

ABOUT BARRY
- The Buccaneers dropped last weekend's series to Saint Leo three games to none and split midweek action against Saint Thomas (Fla.). The Bucs took a win from the top seed in the conference, Tampa, two weeks ago.
- Four Buccaneers lead the offense while hitting over .300. Jasmine Harris (.373) tops the team and the conference in power. Harris leads with a .667 slugging percentage while smacking 12 doubles and six home runs. Barry likes to run the bases aggressively as the team has stolen 57 bags. Cheyanne Head (24) and Alayna Gallagher (12) lead the team.
- Christie Falcon (5-11) leads the Bucs in the circle with a 3.37 ERA over 116.1 innings while striking out 64.

LAST TIME THEY MET
- Barry took the series last year sweeping Eckerd in three games.
