Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Nikole Van Gennep tossed a two-hitter in the season finale for the Eckerd softball team but the Tritons were on the wrong end of a shutout as Embry-Riddle completed a weekend sweep with a 2-0 win on Saturday.
ERAU (26-22) scored both of its runs in the third inning after back-to-back errors. Â After the Eagles' Eryn Chester reached first on a fielding error, Anna Battison reached on an errant throw that allowed both players to score.
Embry-Riddle pitcher Ilona Andringa took things from there, allowing just three hits in the game. Â Only one Triton advanced past first base.
Eckerd's best chance to score came in the second inning when
Kayla Saylor walked and
Dana Paul was hit by a pitch with one out. Â However, Andringa coaxed a pop-up and registered a strikeout to end the threat.
Van Gennep (14-19) took the loss in the final game of the season despite pitching a brilliant game allowing only two hits with no walks.
Eckerd (19-33) had hits from Van Gennep, Saylor and
Rachael Luckett.
The game brought an end to the careers of Saylor,
Kiley King and
Amber Schaad.
