Box Score 2 WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Dillon McCollough tossed his second straight complete game to help the Eckerd baseball team take the final game of a three-game series from Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday, 6-2.
The Sailfish won the opening game of Friday's doubleheader, 7-2, to claim the series after last night's victory.
McCollough (5-3) scattered eight hits in the win and had a shutout intact through 7-2/3 innings before PBA finally pushed a run across on a squeeze bunt with two outs in the eighth.
By then, the Tritons (15-23) had already built a 5-0 lead.
EC plated a run in the top of the first when
Andrew Don drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs, then scored another two-out run in the second on an RBI double by
Chase Achuff.
Neither team scored again until the seventh when EC padded its advantage. Â
Nick Conti led off the inning with a double and switched places with
Sam Cochrane to make it 3-0. Â Cochrane later scored on an error and
Daniel Autiello capped the inning with an RBI double.
Autiello delivered again in the ninth with a single that brought in Don after his leadoff triple.
The Sailfish scored a run in the bottom of the inning, but McCollough stranded two in going the distance for the third time this season.
In the opener, Eckerd got off to a good start with two runs in the first on a Cochrane single but Tyler Hawks and Kyle Polaski shut the Tritons down for the rest of the game.
After PBA scored a run in the bottom of the first, the Sailfish (25-18) took the lead with two runs in the fourth.
Alex Moore (0-6) took the loss, allowing four runs in 5-2/3 innings.
Tom Buonopane had three hits from the leadoff spot while Conti and Cochrane had two each in the opener. Â Achuff had a 4-for-5 performance in the second game; Cochrane added three more hits and Autiello and
Mitch Calandra had two each.
The Tritons return to action next Friday, visiting Lynn University for a three-game series.
