SOFTBALL GAMEDAY: Tritons Continue SSC Play at No. 8 Saint Leo

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla- The Eckerd softball team travels to Saint Leo for a three-game series with the Lions.

MIDWEEK SWEEP
- Eckerd swept Quincy University (Ill.) on Wednesday by scores of 4-2 and 5-3. The Tritons scored late in both games to claim the wins. In the first game, Kayla Saylor drove in the tying run off a line out to center. Kaylin Kramer added an insurance run in the sixth, blasting her first career home run to right. In the second game, Chelsea Armstrong brought in the tying run on a squeeze play to score Crystal Garcia. Dana Paul and Kramer brought in the next two runs on a single and sac fly.

LEADING THE WAY
- Rachael Luckett (.275) and Chelsea Armstrong (.243) have produced at the plate driving in 12 and 10 runs respectively. Luckett has smacked four doubles, one triple, and one home run.
- Crystal Garcia has swiped 15 bags this season, third in the conference.
- Van Gennep earned her seventh win of the season Wednesday in the second game and earned a save in the first. Van Gennep has a 2.02 ERA in 114.1 innings while fanning 49. Janna Gaburo earned her second win of the season this week in five innings of work.

ABOUT SAINT LEO
- Saint Leo began conference play last weekend losing the series 2-1 against Nova Southeastern.
- Danielle Bottley and Kacie Kelly lead the Lions batting .455 and .403 respectively. Six other Lions are hitting above .300 as well. Samantha Ohmie (.382) has smacked three home runs.
- The Lions have 73 stolen bases as a team as Rachael Heath has swiped 23 bags, leading the conference.
- Stephanie Adkins leads the way in the circle. In 67.1 innings pitched, Adkins is 9-2 with a 1.25 ERA. Alison Mitts and Sara Neuman have both been effective in the circle with 1.96 and 1.48 ERAs respectively.

LAST TIME THEY MET
- Saint Leo won the series last year, 2-1.  Eckerd won the opener as Van Gennep took the win and Kayleigh Floyd drove in the winning run.
