ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team opens up conference play this weekend hosting Florida Southern for a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader tonight at 6:00 PM at the Turley Athletic Complex.

MIDWEEK MATCHUP
- After a big weekend at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, Eckerd split a midweek match-up against Flagler (Fla.) College. The Tritons started slowly in the first game of the doubleheader managing just two hits in a 4-0 loss. Junior pitcher
Janna Gaburo carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the second game as the offense erupted with seven hits in an 8-3 win.
IN THE CIRCLE

Nikole Van Gennep has been the workhorse for the Tritons with 63 innings pitched. Van Gennep is 4-5 in 10 games with a 1.89 ERA.
- Gaburo earned her first win of the season Wednesday with a win over Flagler. Junior Grace Willick is 2-1 in five starts.
TOP OF THE CONFERENCE
- With a hot start to the season, junior first baseman
Rachael Luckett leads several statistical categories in the conference. She is tied for first place in runs scored (10), hits (15), and doubles (4). Luckett also leads the team in batting average (.366) and slugging percentage (.585).

ABOUT FLORIDA SOUTHERN
- Last weekend, the Mocs went 2-2 in the South/Southeast Region Crossover at Flagler. Both of their wins came over Georgia Southwestern by scores of 8-0 and 9-1.
- Florida Southern is led by this week's conference player of the week, Erica Morrissey. Morrissey leads the team with a .421 batting average, two doubles and a home run. Behind Morrissey, the FSC offense is led by Leah Pemberton and Shannon Bell with .364 and .360 batting averages respectively.
- The Mocs have split the work in the circle evenly between Kelli Gault, Kristen Beacham, and Brandi Jones. Gault is 2-0 in 11 innings pitched without giving up a run. Beacham is 2-1 with a 1.53 ERA and Jones is 0-2 with a 2.05 ERA.
LAST TIME THEY MET
- The two teams faced off two weeks ago at the Eckerd Spring Invitational in Clearwater. FSC came away with a 3-1 win.
- Eckerd has taken the conference series from the Mocs the past two years.
