LOOKING FOR 30: With a sweep in the three-game series, Eckerd can clinch its second-straight 30-win season. Last year, the Tritons won a school-record 33 games and surpassed the 30-win plateau for the first time in school history. This weekend, Eckerd will look to repeat the previously-unprecedented feat.
RECORD CHASING: Nikole Van Gennep,
Kaycie Duncan,
Rachael Luckett and
Chelsea Armstrong are all continuing to close in on single-season program records. Van Gennep is two appearances in the circle away from tying the program record of 41, set by Whitney Bernier in 2013, and 4.1 innings away from breaking
Amber Hay's record of 217.2 innings pitched set last year. Her current ERA of 1.77 would set a new program record if the season ended today. Duncan, with her 36 RBIs, is five short of tying the program's single-season record of 41. Luckett and Armstrong each enter the weekend with 14 doubles on the season, three away from the program mark of 17.
SECOND TIME AROUND: Eckerd and Florida Southern already met once this season, back on February 7 in Clearwater at the EC Spring Invitational. The Tritons defeated the Mocs, 3-2, for their first win of the season. Van Gennep went the distance, giving up one earned run and seven hits while striking out five.Â
Janna Gaburo had a pair of RBIs.
