PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Freshman
Dillon McCollough earned Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday after his five-hit complete game last week against Palm Beach Atlantic. The lefty rebounded from a rough start against Florida Southern on March 24 quite nicely, going 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched since. Along with sophomore
Jack Mahan and freshman
Alex Moore, the trio has turned into a solid weekend rotation for second-year head coach
Juan Ranero.
BANKO ON IT: Senior outfielder
Grant Banko earned his way into the starting lineup during the Florida Southern series on March 24, and his hot hitting has kept him there. Banko enters the weekend on an eight-game hitting streak and is hitting .425 with eight RBIs in his last 10 games. The Sarasota native posted a four-hit game last weekend against Palm Beach Atlantic.
HILL STAYS HOT: Nick Hill kept his outstanding senior season moving on Wednesday in Eckerd's 4-2 loss to Ave Maria (Fla.), going 3-for-3 with three doubles. The senior is now hitting .430 on the season with 10 doubles, four home runs and 21 RBIs. He's also swiped 11 bases.
SEVEN FOR 10: On Saturday of last week,
Lucas Luopa had a huge day at the plate going 7-for-10 in a double-header against Palm Beach Atlantic. Luopa is only behind Hill in batting average this season, hitting .359 entering the weekend.
