PROBABLE STARTER: Ben Deaver (0-0, 18.00 ERA)
LAST TIME OUT: The Tritons recorded a number of accolades during their weekend series against Palm Beach Atlantic. On Friday,
Kevin Kane recorded the first win of his career. He threw three innings of shutout relief as EC took a walk-off victory in an extra inning of play after
Nick Hill caused chaos on the base paths before sliding into home. The Tritons followed the exciting finish with a dominant 18-7 victory in the first game of Saturday's double-header as they ripped 25 base hits, the most since 2010.
Dillon McCollough wrapped up the accomplishments with the team's first complete game of the season in the Tritons' 3-2 victory.
LUOPA AT THE PLATE: Junior infielder
Lucas Luopa took control of the batter's box over the final two games of the weekend, recording seven singles in ten at-bats. He also managed to drive in three runs and score four more of his own. He wasn't the only Triton to dominate at the plate as
Nick Hill and
Grant Banko each posted four hits in the first game on Saturday while
Carter Cashman was a perfect 3-for-3 in the game with a team-high 4 RBIs.
LEAVE IT TO DEAVER: Looking to capitalize on his first start of the season, junior right-hander
Ben Deaver will take the mound. He has yet to have an opportunity to catch a groove on the year as he has thrown just 3.0 innings in five appearances. Last season, he allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out nine Gyrenes through 7.0 innings in EC's 5-0 victory.
LAST MEETING: Wednesday will mark the second time EC and Ave Maria face each other in the 2016 season. The Gyrenes took the contest on February 17 by a score of 6-3 after scoring two run in both the eighth and ninth innings. 11 Triton arms saw action as head coach
Juan Ranero looked to season his staff early in the year.
Tom Buonopane,
Matt MacMahon and
Nick Hill led EC at the plate with a double each.
