ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd softball team will attempt to stay hot as the Tritons host Barry University in a key three-game Sunshine State Conference series this weekend.

WatchFOLLOW THE LEADER: Senior
Kaycie Duncan recently became the Eckerd program leader in both career RBIs and career walks. She took over the top spot in RBIs thanks to a grand slam last weekend against Lynn, and enters the series with 107 RBIs in her four years at Eckerd. She also surpassed the walks record after drawing the 75th free pass of her career.
HOT STREAK: Despite dropping the back end of a Tuesday double-header at Southeastern (Fla.), the Tritons have won 11 of their last 13 games. Five of those wins have come in conference play, moving Eckerd into fourth place in the SSC standings. The Tritons could solidify their position in the top half of the conference with a win in this weekend's series with Barry.
OH SO CLOSE...: A bang-bang play at first base is the only thing that kept
Nikole Van Gennep from throwing a no-hitter on Tuesday in the first game against Southeastern. SEU's Annie Weaver managed to barely beat the throw on an infield single, which was also the only hit Van Gennep allowed in recording her fourth shutout of the season.
LAST TIME THEY MET: Eckerd closed the 2015 season at Barry, taking two of three games in the series.Â
Chelsea Armstrong homered in the first game of the series as Eckerd won 6-3. The Tritons then won the first game of the double-header the following day, 2-0, behind a three-hitter from
Amber Hay.
