WatchSEE YOU AGAIN: Eckerd and Lynn have seen each other once this season as they faced off at the Eckerd Invitational on February 7 in Clearwater. The Tritons took that game, 4-0, behind a combined shutout by
Janna Gaburo and
Nikole Van Gennep. Gaburo also had a two-run double in the fourth inning.
SHERE POWER: Carrie Shere had a huge game in Tuesday's opener, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and her sixth home run of the season. The sophomore from River Forest, Illinois, leads the team in triples (2), home runs (6), RBIs (25) and slugging percentage (.588). Since moving into the third spot in the batting order, Shere is hitting .435 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in eight games.
20 TIMES 3: With their two wins over Merrimack (Mass.) on Tuesday, Eckerd secure its third-straight 20-win season. It's the first time in program history that the Tritons have won 20 or more games in three seasons in a row. Before last year, the program only had one 20-win season to its credit.
WILLECK WINS AGAIN: After earning her first career win on Sunday,
Grace Willeck didn't wait long to record her second win. She struck out the side in the eighth inning of the finale on Tuesday as the Tritons won in extra innings. Willeck has thrown 7-2/3 shutout innings in the two games with eight strikeouts.
WALK THIS WAY: Eckerd has excelled in showing patience at the plate this season, drawing a total of 83 walks which ranks second in the SSC.Â
Rachael Luckett leads the team with 13 while Shere and
