ListenLAST TIME OUT: The Tritons had no problem putting runners on base but had some trouble moving them around, stranding a total of 22 runners in a pair of losses to Ferris State (Mich.) on Tuesday by scores of 5-3 and 5-4.Â
Chelsea Armstrong led Eckerd at the plate going 3-for-8 for the day with two RBIs.
OUT OF THE FRYING PAN: Eckerd's conference schedule has the Tritons facing some of the top teams in the SSC early in the season. EC already took on No. 11 Saint Leo last weekend - and handed the Lions their first loss - and now will play the lone unbeaten team in conference play with the visit to Rollins. The Tars swept Florida Southern and have won 12 of 13 games entering the series.
SETTING THE TABLE...: The Tritons have been able to get the inning's leadoff hitter on base at a solid rate this season. EC is hitting .405 leading off an inning, led by
Emily Knox (7-for-12) and
Rachael Luckett (9-for-18).
...AND BRINGING THEM IN: When runners are on base for
Kaycie Duncan, she's been at her best at the plate. The senior is hitting .435 with runners in scoring position and is 9-for-10 with a runner on third and less than two outs. She's also 3-for-4 with the bases loaded.
