ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team will look to snap a four-match skid tonight when the Tritons visit Embry-Riddle for the first of two matches this week against the Eagles.
MATCH 27: Eckerd (15-11) at Embry-Riddle (12-12) | 7:00 PM | Daytona Beach, Fla.
COVERAGE: Stats/Video
BACK ON TRACK: The Tritons need a win tonight in order to get back on track after losing four straight matches, three of which were on the road last week. Â Eckerd has now dropped into sixth place in the Sunshine State Conference standings but is only one game out of third place in a tight race. Â All three of the Tritons' remaining conference contests are against teams below them in the standings.
1500 FOR SIBSON: Junior libero
Kaitlyn Sibson recorded the 1500th dig of her career on Saturday at Lynn, making her only the second player in program history to reach that number. Â Sibson is only 146 digs away from breaking the program's all-time digs record currently held by Kristy Busse.
CLOSING STRETCH: Eckerd's last two weeks will be a little busier than originally planned with road contests at Embry-Riddle and Rollins moved due to Hurricane Matthew. Â The team's home schedule wraps up this weekend hosting those two schools on Friday and Saturday.
ABOUT THE EAGLES: Embry-Riddle is 5-7 against Sunshine State Conference competition this season as the former NAIA member continues its transition into NCAA Division II. Â The Eagles don't feature a dominant attacker but rather rely on a balanced offense. Â Amanda Saunders leads the team with 2.60 kills per set while Asya Oguz averages 2.35. Â Two others - McKenna James and Paola Virella - average over 1.8 per set. Â James leads the team in blocks with 80.
