SORRENTO, Fla. – The Eckerd College men's golf team started Tuesday's final round of the Sunshine State Golf Tournament just after 8 am this morning.
Mitchell Clark started his day off on the front nine where he was masterful, parring 6 of 9 holes. Clark found the rough on the backside of the course and ended up hitting 85 on the final 18.
Falling just two strokes shy of his best round of 18 on the year,
Johan Nordahl played the front nine holes just one over par. His solid play did not stop there with Nordahl missing par on only three holes to finish with a 76 (+4).
Kris McGovern came up with some booming drives on Tuesday which helped him collect three birdies on his way to an 81. It was McGovern's final round as a Triton being the lone senior on the squad.
Joe Testerman was bothered by one tough hole on the front nine, but came back to score four pars and a birdie on the final nine holes. Testerman shot 84 on Tuesday to go along with his previous rounds of 75 and 79.
The lowest total score of the event came from
Callum Mackay who ended the day with a 78. Great putting throughout the final round had Mackay sitting pretty just two over through the first nine holes. One birdie and five pars on the back end of the course put him six over par for the day and an event total of 231.
Eckerd finished ninth shooting 957 as a team. First place went to Lynn University who totaled 852 for the tournament. Florida Southern's John Van Der Laan was the top finisher in individual play ending with a 207 (-9).
