Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Eckerd College softball team continued to make waves in the SSC completing their first ever conference sweep over Nova Southeastern in double header action, 8-4 and 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The Tritons (23-2, 6-0) are currently stringing together the best start in program history and have won their last 18 consecutive games.

In game one of the double header, Kara Oberer reached a historic milestone as she clobbered the 29th home run of her career tying a 22 year old record held by Sherry Howell (1990-93).

Game One – Eckerd 8, Nova 4

Erin Dixson went the distance for the Tritons in game one pitching a gem facing 30 batters while scattering six hits. The senior improves to 8-0 on the year.

Sydney Dinelli singled in the first inning with two outs. After a walk by Kaycie Duncan, the two were brought home off the bat of Amber Hay who doubled to left center. Nova Southeastern then took the lead tacking on four runs before the teams entered a three hour rain delay.

In the top of the third, Oberer sent a two run home run over the center field fence to tie the game up.

Dixson led off the top of the sixth with a double to deep left center. Kirby Parnell came in to pinch run for the pitcher and scored when Brittany Mitchell sent a laser up the middle to give EC the lead, 5-4.

With the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, Amber Hay nabbed one RBI with a sacrifice fly to left field. Dixson and Rachael Luckett then sent back to back singles through the infield adding on two more insurance runs.

Dixson, Dinelli, Luckett, and Hay each nabbed two hits in game one.

Game Two – Eckerd 3, Nova 0

Amber Hay toed the rubber for game two of the twin bill and took home her fifth shutout of the year improving to 13-2. The senior was dealing from the circle issuing four strikeouts while scattering five hits.

Dixson provided all the muscle the Tritons would need grabbing all three RBIs. She knocked in the first two runs of the game launching her eighth home run of the year putting her one long ball behind teammate Oberer for the team lead.

Duncan grabbed a bunt single to begin the sixth and then proceeded to steal second. The junior scored off the bat of Dixson who singled through the right side.

Dixson finished the game going 2 for 3 at the plate with three RBIs.

The Tritons will return to the Turley Athletic Complex for a non-conference double header against Merrimack College on Tuesday. Game one is slated to start at 4 p.m.
