Tritons Complete Final Round of Invitational

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – After finishing up the first two rounds on Monday, the Eckerd College men's golf team completed the final 18 holes of the Buccaneer Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.

This year's field of 17 teams included six of the top 25 teams in the nation. The course at Normandy Shores Golf Club was in perfect condition for play witnessing another eight eagles in the final round of action.

Every one of the five Triton golfers posted their best round of the tournament on Tuesday.

After back to back 79's on day one, Callum Mackay boasted a 76 on the final 18 holes tallying the top score for EC in the Invitational. Mackey found the fairway throughout the day finishing with a three round total of 234.

Johan Nordahl shaved five strokes off his second round total of 83 ending with a 78. Joe Testerman came back to shoot an 80 after solid work with his irons. Both golfers finished the event with a 243.

Ending day one with an 84 followed by an 81, Kris McGovern reached several greens inside regulation in the final round to walk away with an 80. Max Catucci cut a whopping 11 strokes off his two 90's from Monday to end with a 79 through the last 18 holes.

"I was really happy to see the team respond the way the way they did on Tuesday," said Head Coach, Bill Buttner. "Everyone played their best golf of the tournament today and now we have a couple weeks to get ready for the conference tournament."

As a team, Eckerd finished the Invitational with a total score of 964. Taking first place was No. 4 Lynn University who came in 14 strokes ahead of No. 1 Nova Southeastern. Eastern Florida State's Kerry Sweeney took the top spot on the individual side with a 204 (-9).

The Tritons will have two weeks off before heading to Winter Park for the Sunshine State Conference Tournament.
