Box Score TAMPA, Fla. – In the final game of a three game series, the Eckerd College baseball team fell to the University of Tampa, 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The No. 2 Spartans (24-7, 7-2) picked up the sweep as the Tritons dropped to 13-17, 3-10 on the season.
Jack Silberman toed the rubber and picked up his second loss of the season, scattering seven hits and allowing two earned runs.
UT got on the board early, pushing one run across in the bottom of the first.
Jake O'Rourke then slugged a triple to deep center field.
Lucas Luopa brought O'Rourke around to score sending a single up the middle.
The Spartans took the lead back in the fourth, stringing together three base hits.
Mike Abraham slammed a double down the right field line, but was stranded on the bases.
Tampa grabbed their final run of the game off junior,
Jared Habershaw who went three innings in relief before giving way to
Kyle Harding and
Taylor Owens who finished the game.
Eckerd will be back in action on Tuesday in Lakeland, Fla. taking on the Southeastern University Fire. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
