ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – In the opening game of a three game series, the Eckerd College softball team fell to No. 18 Rollins College on Friday night, 10-2.

Facing off with the nationally ranked Tars (22-4, 7-3) the Tritons (27-4, 8-2) were looking for their first win against the team since the 2007 season.

In the bottom of the third, Amber Hay put the first run on the board for either team sending a single through the right side, driving in Kara Oberer who was standing on second after hitting a double.

Both teams then went scoreless through two innings with the Tritons working their way out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth. The Tar offense erupted in the top of the sixth, tagging eight runs on the board and taking advantage of EC defensive miscues.

Dana Paul would score the final run of the game for Eckerd leading off the bottom half of the sixth with a double to deep right center. Oberer would eventually bring Paul in across home plate.

Hay picked up her fourth loss of the season as she got the start and completed 5.2 innings before being relieved by Janna GaburoSydney Dinelli, Erin Dixson, Oberer, and Paul each picked up two hits on the day while Kaycie Duncan earned three walks and one hit.
