VALDOSTA, Ga. – after two days, the Eckerd College men's golf team was prepared for the final round of the 2015 Southeastern Collegiate on Tuesday.
Max Catucci posted his best numbers of the event on the final 18 holes. Catucci cut nine strokes off his second round total for a 78 on Tuesday. The sophomore had an impressive front nine making par on 8 of 9 holes.
Ending the day with an 80,
William Moraldo posted a tournament total of 241 after shooting 80 in the final round. Moraldo birdied on 11, but faltered on the next couple of holes. He managed to hit most of the greens in regulation on the front nine accounting for several pars.
Johan Nordahl was Mr. Consistency at the event ending round one with a 79, round two with an 80 and finally posting a 79 on day three. Nordahl was only two over on the front nine, but was plagued by just two tough holes on the back end. He finished with a tournament total of 238.
After boasting a season best 77 on Monday,
Joe Testerman managed to stay under 80 on the final 18 shooting 79 on the day.
Callum Mackay finished one stroke behind his teammate with a 78. Ending the event with the top score for the Tritons, Mackay posted a 225 event total, which put him in the top 35.
Finishing in first place as a team was St. Leo who posted a three day total of 859. On the individual side, Forrest Knight of North Alabama took the top spot finishing with a 208 (-8).
"We faced a very challenging field on a very difficult golf course," said Head Coach,
Bill Buttner. "We were able to watch some of the best teams in Division II and see where we need to be in the future."
Eckerd will have one more tune up before the Sunshine State Conference Tournament. EC heads to the Buccaneer Invitational in Miami Shores on March 29.
