Box Score BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Eckerd College baseball team suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday night on the road to Webber International University, 5-2, in a non-conference matchup.
Eckerd (1-1) and Webber (3-0) met four times last season with the Warriors walking away with three out of four victories.
Jake O'Rourke put the Tritons on the board in the top of the third as he ripped a triple that brought
Zach Mitsmenn around the bases. Mitsmenn had led off the inning with a walk.
Lucas Luopa tallied his first RBI of the season scoring O'Rourke on the next play.
Senior Pitcher,
Jimmy Gutowski got the start for the Tritons and went five innings striking out six and allowing no runs.
The Warriors got on the board in the seventh inning scoring one run off two hits. Webber International's AJ Arroyo led off the bottom of the eighth with a homerun to tie the game up and then tacked on three more runs.
WIU threw six pitchers at the Triton offense giving up seven hits. O'Rourke finished the night going 2 for 3 at the plate while Luopa,
Adam Moreau,
Rowdy Andrews,
Grant Banko, and
James Petika each collected one hit a piece.
Eckerd will host Warner University this Saturday for a double header. Game one will start at noon.
