ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Eckerd College golf team earned a sixth place finish Tuesday, during their first tournament of the season, the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational.
After shooting a one day total of 298 on Monday, the team came back to hit 308 on day two.
The low round of the day for the Tritons went to
Kyle Mathews, who shot 75 on Tuesday. His two day total of 149 placed him 17
th overall.
Johan Nordahl,
Callum Mackay,
Jake Solomon and
Michael Yaeger all finished the day on a high note (79-78-76-86).
"We had a few too many mistakes this morning and gave some shots away," said Head Coach,
Bill Buttner. "It was good for the team to get out there and play in the tournament. Now our feet are wet and we know what we need to work on in practice."
Coastal Georgia finished at the top of the leaderboard, shooting 573.
The men's golf team will be back in action Sept. 22 for the Saint Leo Invitational in Dade City, Fla. The event will be held at the Lake Jovita Golf Course.
