Bodney, Snodgrass Named to 2013-14 NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Eckerd College men's basketball program participated in record numbers for the 2013-14 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court that was announced early this week.

Graduated senior guards Alex Bodney and Josh Snodgrass both earned the academic honor since their accomplished careers had come to a close.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes student-athletes who excelled in the classroom this past season. It also recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit with their academics.

A record number of 895 student-athletes from 338 colleges and universities earned NABC Honors Court distinction this year.

In order to be named to the NABC Honors Court, candidates must meet the following requirements: either a junior or senior and a varsity player, cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year, matriculated at least one year at their current institution and be a member of an NCAA or NAIA institution with an NABC member coach.

Bodney was named Eckerd's male James R. Harley Award winner that was presented at the end-of-the-year athletics banquet back in May.

He was named to the NABC Honors Court as a junior and was a four-time Sunshine State Commissioner's Honor Roll pick and a CoSIDA Capital One Academic First Team All-District selection throughout his career.

Bodney ended his time at Eckerd with 1,108 points in 114 games played, ranking 14th all-time in scoring among players in the program's history.

Snodgrass led the team in scoring by averaging 14.6 points per game this year, including a streak of 12 straight games scoring in double figures. His season-high point total came in the SSC tournament against Barry University after he poured in 27.

He spent three years within the program and was a two-time selection the SSC Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll.
