Baseball Falls to Webber International, 4-1

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Eckerd College baseball team dropped a non-conference game on the road to Webber International University, 4-1, on Wednesday night.
 
With the loss, The Tritons (24-19, 8-10 SSC) moved to 1-3 on the season against the Warriors (29-26, 13-14 TSC).
 
Webber International lit up the scoreboard first, tabbing two runs off of a single from senior Austin Aubuchon in the fourth inning.
 
The Warriors extended their lead to 4-0 in the fifth off of RBI singles from seniors Jason Anderson and Shae Cothran.
 
Senior Chris Hanson drove a one-out single to get things started for Eckerd in the sixth. Junior Mike Abraham followed with an RBI single to score the Tritons' lone run of the game.
 
Senior David Gladding earned the win on the mound to move to 1-0 on the season. Gladding tossed a complete, scoreless fifth inning and recorded three groundouts.
 
Sophomore Mike Eagan took the loss and moved to 5-1 on the year. Eagan allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk and struck out three batters.
 
Abraham led the Tritons at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance -- the fourth game this season Abraham has accumulated three or more hits in a single game.
 
Senior Lincoln Dunham and Hanson also tallied two hits.
 
Cothran was 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.
 
Eckerd will return to Sunshine State Conference play over the weekend as the Tritons travel to Miami Shores to face Barry University for a three-game series. Game one of the series is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m.
