Men’s Basketball Falls to Lynn in Regular-Season Finale, 74-62

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Eckerd College men's basketball team fell to Lynn University in its final game of the 2013-14 regular season at the de Hoernle Center on Saturday afternoon, 74-62.

As a result, the Tritons (15-13, 7-9 SSC) earned the No. 7 seed are set to play No. 4 seed Barry University in the opening round of the SSC Championship on Wednesday, March 5, at 12 p.m. EST at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee.

Lynn jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but a 7-2 run from Eckerd gave the Tritons their only lead of the night, 7-6, just three minutes into the first half.

At the conclusion of the first half, Eckerd trailed by four, 30-26, but continued to chip away at the Fighting Knights' lead. Just over six minutes into the second half, the Tritons worked a 5-0 run courtesy of a Matt Beneduci three-pointer and two made free-throws from E.J. Moody to tie the game at 45.

But the tie game would not last for long as Lynn reclaimed the lead and put some breathing room between the Tritons. Lynn outscored the Tritons 17-9 in the final 10 minutes and led by as many as 14.

Senior Josh Snodgrass led all scorers with 17 points and collected his 11th straight game scoring in double figures.

Sophomore Jerrick Stevenson added 12 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Ray Darnell added a 10-point, eight-rebound performance.

Kaleb Clyburn (13), Haki Stampley (12), Josh Soto (11) and Dante Scholl (10) scored in double digits for the Fighting Knights.

Those wishing to attend the games at Silver Spurs Arena can purchase tickets at the box office window. General admission tickets are available for $10 each day. One ticket will give one person admittance to an entire day, but there is a no re-entry policy in place. If spectators leave arena, they must purchase another ticket.
