Box Score vs. Lynn University
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Eckerd College softball program closed out the EC Spring Invitational on Sunday morning, falling against Lindenwood (Mo.) University and Lynn University by scores of 12-4 (six innings) and 5-4 at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.
The Tritons (6-4, 0-0 SSC) finished the three-day event with a 3-3 record after sweeping Friday against Georgia College and Colorado Christian University before splitting in Saturday's action facing No. 10 Columbus State (Ga.) University and Palm Beach Atlantic University.
The Lions (2-4 overall) erupted for eight runs in the top of the second inning, seven crossing home plate with one out, to back Kristen Felker's four-inning win as the starting hurler.
With the bases loaded and no outs in the second, Lindenwood's Erin Pietzman opened the scoring with an RBI single. A few batters later at the top of the order, Courtney Kitson lined a two-run single to center and the Lions took advantage of a pair of fielding miscues in the field by Eckerd.
The Tritons scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend play one more inning before the eight-run rule came into effect after the Lions scored one more in the top of the sixth.

Versus a familiar foe in the Fighting Knights (4-3, 0-0 SSC), the Tritons broke through a scoreless contest in the top of the third as freshman
Kara Oberer roped an RBI double to the wall in left field.
Lynn got the run back in the bottom of the fourth to restore the tie and added three more in the fifth, two scoring on a single up the middle by Bianca Savulak.
Savulak went 3-for-4 with three RBI and delivered the biggest blow that contributed to the final decision in the sixth inning.
Facing a payoff pitch in a full count with the bases-loaded and two outs, Savulak dumped a fly ball in shallow center for a pivotal run and 5-2 lead as EC charged back in the seventh inning.
Oberer drove in her team-leading 10th run of the season with the bases loaded and Mitchell brought EC within one run with a pair of runners in scoring position and two away in the top half of the seventh.
Down to their final out, Lynn's Kasey Murray induced a game-ending groundout to first base to erase the Eckerd threat.
