ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.
– With its sixth-straight win, the Eckerd College volleyball team advanced past Nova Southeastern University, 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-22), on Saturday afternoon in the McArthur Center.

The Tritons (15-8, 6-4 SSC) officially completed the regular-season sweep and sustained second-half Sunshine State Conference momentum against the Sharks (5-16, 1-9 SSC), one day removed from toppling Lynn University in a four-set final.

"Kaleigh [Humphrey] has brought consistency to our defense and passing," EC Head Coach Michelle Piantadosi said. "Kat [Milojevic] helps to make our offense a little less predictable and Ali [McAlvany] is serving really aggressively."

The Tritons moved past the Sharks in the first set aided by four kills from both senior Lindsay Biggs and junior Grace Jones.

Milojevic added three kills to the mix in the opening frame while McAlvany's serve continued to be on point as she picked up three service aces in the first set.

In the second set, the Tritons trailed 19-20, producing a timeout called by Piantadosi. After the timeout, the Tritons rallied from behind to take the set, 25-22.

Jones, Biggs and Milojevic each picked up kills in the 5-2 run to erase the one-point deficit.

In the third set, Eckerd climbed to a 13-9 lead, but the Sharks gathered four straight points to tie the set.

From there both teams played point-for-point until the Tritons broke free from a 22-22 stalemate with a decisive 3-0 run.

Kills from McAlvany and Milojevic and a Nova Southeastern attacking error secured the set win and the match.

Biggs collected her 12th double-double on the season and fourth consecutive with 11 kills and 10 digs.

Jones totaled nine kills in 19 attempts for a .316 attacking percentage. She also added three block assists and one solo block to the Tritons' defense. Setters Madison Burr (21 assists) and Emily Schadow (15 assists) continued to set the table for an efficient .243 collective attacking percentage.

Milojevic continued to be a force for Eckerd on both offense and defense. The junior middle blocker picked up 11 kills, three solo blocks and three block assists on the night. Humphrey notched a team-best 12 digs in the straight-set decision.

Eckerd hits the road on Wednesday as it travels to Florida Southern College for a match set to begin at 7 p.m. in Lakeland at the Jenkins Field House.
