ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.
Brian Hill appeared in his final home contest during Senior Day as the Eckerd College men's and women's tennis programs played a Sunshine State Conference/regional matchup against Saint Leo University on Tuesday afternoon.

Unfortunately for the Tritons' men against the 18th-ranked Lions, Eckerd closed the regular season winless with a 9-0 loss against Saint Leo, finishing 0-16 before the SSC Tournament in Lakeland next week.

The No. 15 Lions also posted a shutout on the women's side, 9-0.

The Lions completed the regular-season sweep against the Tritons, also winning respective duals on both sides back on Feb. 14.

“Saint Leo is a tough team and they have been able to get better and are now competing at the top of our conference,” EC assistant coach Ben Maxwell said. “Unfortunately, it was our last regular-season match for the men and while it's been a tough year, it's been a great learning experience for everyone.”

Led by ranked singles players Aloua Adjenak, Matt Nicholson-Lewis and Victor Lozier, the Lions cruised to straight set victories down the rotation. In doubles, the Tritons fell by a pair of a 8-3 decisions and an 8-0 final score.

The men will compete next at the SSC Tournament, set to be hosted by Florida Southern College on April 19-21.

The Tritons women are faced with a dilemma of their own in order to qualify for the conference tournament, needing to win against either the University of Tampa or Rollins College to move on to the postseason.

Laura Kemkes and  Emily Singleton, a pair of top-10 regionally ranked Lions, helped lead Saint Leo to the victory. Saint Leo's women improved to 16-4 on the year and the men upped their season mark to 14-5 overall.
