Box Score

WINTER PARK, Fla.
– Hope Blitzer and Taylor McGowan combined on a two-hitter while Monica Meadows and Lawna Hunter each hit their fourth home runs of the season to send Rollins College past the Eckerd College softball program on Friday night, 9-1 (6 innings).

Blitzer threw three perfect innings to begin the game for the Tars (27-6, 8-2 SSC) while McGowan received the winning decision and improved her record to 5-0 on the hill by pitching the final three frames against the Tritons (9-32, 1-9 SSC).

Hunter homered in the third inning and Meadows in the sixth, both solo shots.

EC's Julie Bierchen and Brittany Mitchell each went 1-for-3 in the lineup while Taylor Styke stole home as the Tritons scored in the top half of the fifth inning.

The Tritons executed a clean double-steal to manufacture their run in the fifth after Bierchen legged out an infield single to put runners on the corners.

Rollins scored three runs in the first and second innings to break the game open early as four Tritons hurlers tried to slow down the offensive attack.

Two runs were on the scoreboard for Rollins in the first before the first out was recorded. Meadows stole home with one out, her 25th swiped base of the year, to make it a 3-0 game.

The Tritons and Tars will meet again tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Live stats and live audio will be available.
