Box Score

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
– The Eckerd College women's soccer program had its four-match win streak come to a halt on the road against Nova Southeastern University, falling by a 2-0 decision on the pitch Tuesday evening.

After playing the Sharks (4-5-1, 3-3 SSC) to a scoreless double-overtime draw earlier in the season in St. Petersburg, the Tritons (6-3-2, 3-2-1 SSC) yielded goals in the 10th and 89th minutes this time around.

Prior to tonght's defeat, the Tritons were third in the Sunshine State Conference standings only behind Rollins College and current leader University of Tampa.

EC toppled Saint Leo University, Barry University, Lynn University and Florida Christian College, coming into tonight's match and had its sights set on climbing league standings again.

Instead, the Sharks kept the Tritons off the scoreboard for what turned out to be 200 straight minutes in their combined matches this year.

Talented NSU forward Malin Broberg scored her third goal of the season for the early lead at the 10:17 mark.

Broberg fired off eight shots in the previous meeting between the two schools, including three attempts on goal.

Broberg was also on the helping end of the final score, netted late to seal the match with one minute left in regulation. She fed a ball to teammate Sierra Lelii, who found a gap in the right corner of the net.

EC goalkeeper Morgan Crescent made seven saves on the night while her counterpart, Amanda Kopale, recorded one save in the shutout effort.

Sophomore forward Arie Anahory was credited with a pair of shots, while the lone attempt on goal, was fired by senior Emily Johnson.

Nova Southeastern outshot Eckerd, 21-5, on the night.

The Tritons will return home to face Clearwater Christian College in a non-conference battle at the Turley Athletic Complex on Thursday. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
