Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG
, Fla. – Pinch hitter Shane Bishop RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Eckerd College baseball team to a 3-2 win over visiting Nova Southeastern in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

NSU scored two runs in the top of the ninth to rally for a 3-2 win in the opener.

In Game Two, however, Bishop broke a 2-2 tie with a line drive single up the middle off NSU closer Sean Albury.

Anthony Pucci slid across home plate just before the tag of NSU catcher Michael Hartley, handing Eckerd (12-14, 1-7 Sunshine State Conference) its first league win of 2011.

Aaron Shapiro and Wess Hollins combined for six hits and three RBIs overall for the Tritons. Johnny Lancaster (1-1) got the win in the second game, going eight innings and striking out seven in his first start of the year.

Andrew Durden had three hits on the day for NSU (21-10, 8-3). Ray Navarro had three RBIs, including a two-run single in the ninth inning of the opener.

Navarro's hit spoiled another brilliant outing from EC junior pitcher Joey Cuda. The right-hander tossed his third straight complete game to keep the Tritons in it. Cuda struck out 10, recording double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this year.

The two teams will wrap up the series at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
