Lynn Uses Big Inning Late to Defeat Softball

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Lynn University used a nine-run sixth inning to claim a 12-2 win over the Eckerd College softball team on Friday evening at the Turley Athletic Complex.

 

Katrina Lavadan went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored to pace the Fighting Knights (10-32, 5-11 Sunshine State Conference). Brittany Gross, Mandi Brown and Carisa Cook each added two hits and combined to score five runs.

 

Chelsea Jeffares and Kaitlyn Dougherty each had RBI singles for Eckerd (12-34, 0-16).

 

The Tritons held an early 2-1 lead after two innings but were victimized by seven errors, including three in the decisive sixth inning.

 

Lynn tallied 13 hits overall.

 

The two teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
