ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Eckerd College men's tennis team kept its season alive on Friday thanks to a 5-2 win over Florida Tech in the Sunshine State Conference Championships consolation bracket.
The No. 6 seed Tritons (7-13) took two of the three doubles points before getting wins at No. 2, 3 and 5 singles. It was EC's second win over No. 7 Florida Tech (7-18) this season.
Hisa Sato and
Adam Hopkins each got wins in doubles and singles play. Sato teamed with fellow senior
Ben Maxwell for an 8-2 win in No. 1 doubles before Sato took a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles.
Hopkins, meanwhile, and teammate
Dylan Randazzo grabbed an 8-5 win in No. 2 doubles. Hopkins followed with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph in No. 5 singles.
Eckerd will face No. 4 Florida Southern at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the fifth-place match.
