NSU Shuts Out Softball in SSC Weekend Opener

, Fla. – Nova Southeastern's Katie Kelton went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead the Sharks to an 8-0 win over the visiting Eckerd College softball team on Friday.
 
Brittany Phillips added two hits and two RBIs for the Sharks (20-11, 2-5 Sunshine State Conference). Sara DeMuth (9-7) was credited with the win, tossing four innings and striking out seven.
 
Meagan Camp, Sarah Agnew and Kristen Schurr each had singles for Eckerd (11-22, 0-7).
 
NSU scored three runs in the first inning off EC starter Kaitlyn Dougherty (5-7) and extended the lead to 7-0 in the second. The Sharks, who tallied 10 hits, added their final run in the third before the game was called after five innings.
 
The two teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
