LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern right-hander Gus Schlosser tossed seven shutout innings to lead the Mocs to a 4-0 win over the visiting Eckerd College baseball team on Friday.
Austin Chubb went 2-for-3, including a solo home run, to help No. 25 FSC (18-5, 4-0 Sunshine State Conference) to its 11th straight win.
Colin Kish added two hits, including an RBI double, to help the hosts. The Mocs managed eight hits overall.
Right-hander Joey Cuda (3-2) took the loss for Eckerd (11-10, 0-4). The junior recorded his second consecutive complete game and struck out seven.
Five Tritons tallied a hit, including a double from shortstop Alex Del Monte.
Kish got the scoring going with an RBI double down the left-field line in the first. After the Mocs took a 2-0 lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly, Chubb extended the advantage to 3-0 with a home run to left. FSC scored its final run in the fifth.
The two teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
