CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Eckerd College softball team split its final two games of the EC Invitational on Sunday at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex.
The Tritons picked up an impressive 4-3 win over West Florida before falling to Flagler 11-3.
EC (5-11) used a three-run fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie and held off UWF (5-5) late. Sarah Agnew went 2-for-3, including a two-run single in the fourth that put the Tritons up for good.
Alex Sasso and Kelly Coston also recorded RBI hits, and freshman Whitney Bernier (1-4) scattered five hits to pick up her first win in the circle.
The Tritons held a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning against Flagler (19-3) before the Saints rallied with 10 runs in their final two at-bats.
Flagler scored eight runs with two outs in the fifth to take a 9-3 lead.
Freshman Chelsea Jeffares went 4-for-6 with two runs scored on the day for Eckerd, which finished 2-4 for the three-day tournament.
The Tritons will return to action at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, playing host to Webber International at the Turley Athletic Complex.
