Baseball Uses Big Inning to Win at Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Eckerd College baseball team took advantage of four Saint Leo errors en route to an 8-4 win over the Lions on Tuesday evening at Southard Stadium.

David Regidor went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored, and Stephen Pelc added two hits, as the Tritons (4-1) improved to 3-0 on the road.

Wess Hollins had three RBIs, helping an Eckerd offense record its highest run total of the young season.

Junior right-hander Joey Cuda (2-0) picked up the win, tossing six innings and striking out five. Matthew Hewitt (0-1) took the loss, giving up four hits and seven runs (one earned) in 3 1/3 innings.

Frank Rawdow went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Saint Leo (3-3).

The Tritons overcame an early 1-0 deficit with a five-run third inning, aided by three Saint Leo errors. After the Lions made it 5-3 in the third, Eckerd answered with two more runs in the fourth to build a 7-3 edge.

Eckerd will get a week off before traveling to Southeastern for a 7 p.m. contest next Tuesday.
