MELBOURNE, Fla. – After working through doubles play on Friday, the Eckerd College men's tennis program continued singles draws on Saturday at the Florida Tech-hosted Panther Invitational.
In Pool A action, EC's
Dylan Randazzo worked through Florida Tech's Mike Schmidt, 6-2, 6-2, before setting himself up for today's third-place match against Beau Fieldsend, also of host FIT. Randazzo and Fieldsend each lost to respective opponents set in the championship final.
Stephen Felman positioned himself to play for seventh and will face Ryan Bartz (GSW) at 10:30 a.m.
Teammates
Ben Levy and
Kyle Zugelter will face each other in one of the final showdowns after the Pool B bracket was sorted out.
Both Levy and Zugelter were defeated in the championship and consolation side to play for seventh.
Madison Durley highlighted wild action in Pool C as a total of four tiebreakers went down on the championship side. Durley was one of them and he prevailed in his first match, a 10-4 tiebreaker to bring down Jon Kalis of Palm Beach Atlantic.
It took another tiebreaker to move Durley to the third-place bout, where he will square off against Florida Tech's Jimmy Nguyen. Nguyen also won his first match in a tiebreaker.
Teammate
Brian Hill will meet Kalis for seventh.
Phillippe Novikov and
Mark Scafidi are the second pair of Tritons to play against each other for seventh after each completing a pair of matches in Pool D.
