AMERICUS, Ga. – The Eckerd College women's soccer team defeated Georgia Southwestern 2-1 Sunday, earning the team's first win of the season.

Callie Pederson tallied both of the goals for the Tritons off six shots on goal.
“I'm very happy with the performances our team showed over the weekend,” head coach
Danielle Fotopoulos said. “It's very exciting for us to get our first win on the road. Callie (Pederson) did an amazing job during the game pressing toward the defense and getting shots on goal. Our defense also played really well and stayed compact and organized.”
Pederson knocked in her first goal in the 16th minute off a loose ball with the Hurricanes goalkeeper out of position. The Sarasota, Fla. native scored her second goal shortly after in the 17th minute off a pass from sophomore
Emily Johnson, beating the Hurricanes goalkeeper one-on-one.
Eckerd out-shot the Hurricanes 16-7, with seven shots on goal.
The Tritons will play host to the Eckerd Invitational next weekend. Their first match will be on Friday against Christian Brothers at 7 p.m. Live stats will be available on eckerdtritons.com.
